Our Story 

"Moxie" means courage, resilience, and determination—and that’s exactly what defines us. We know that true community change requires more than just resources; it demands creativity, collaboration, and a willingness to listen to those most impacted by poverty.

Moxie was recharted with a simple but powerful belief: that poverty is not a personal failure but a community failure. We are a group of friends who saw the need for a more compassionate & innovative San Antonio.

Rooted in the understanding that poverty is not just about economics but also about dignity and connection, we came together to imagine a different kind of community—one where our neighbors, local businesses, and partners work together to reimagine and create a community that works for all of us.

Our Approach

Building a poverty-informed community means hosting and cultivating quality opportunities that are free and/or low cost for all community members. We also understand that we may not be everyone's cup of tea, so we are committed to making all of our tools accessible to cultivate your very own Poverty Informed Community. Below you will find our strategy to help us contribute to the overall San Antonio community.

• Engagement – We honor and uplift the voices and experiences of people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. 

• Education – Through relationships we find ways to educate ourselves and each other about the root causes of poverty and what it means to create solutions together. 

• Empowerment – We believe that strength comes from unity, not competition. We work to build each other up through mutual care and support.

Moxie is not an organization, non-profit or a program—it’s a team working on a cause. We are not here to "fix" people; we are here to stand alongside our neighbors and partners to create a community that works for us all. Our story is still being written, and we invite you to be part of it!
