Our Role

At Moxie, we are committed to building a poverty-informed community by navigating poverty through engaging with difference, educating ourselves and empowering our community. Below are our contributions to the local San Antonio community feel free to join our moxie community or make your own:

Civic & Soul

Community conversation on hot topics in our society with community members of diverse backgrounds & Ideologies.

Community Dinners

Community Dinners provide members the opportunity to be in communion to celebrate the weeks wins and empower one another.

Care Kit Engagement

Pop Up to create Care Kits to distribute to anyone in need of the items in the care kit.

Knowledge Sharing

Workshops that provide community members opportunities to lead, share and teach their expertise with others.

Ex. Creative Writing, Higher Education Navigation, Career Readiness, Political Engagement, etc. 

Community Learning Sessions

Community sessions to learn how to be poverty informed through Film & Music and applying them to our local contexts!

Helping Hand

In collaboration with our partners, we want to offer our time and skills to be a helping hand. Ex. Every 3rd Saturday Moxie can be found at the Red Bag Sale. 

Projects We Need Help With 

Shower Vouchers

Partnership with Truck stops to get free or donated shower time for anyone needing a shower. 

Advocacy Day

As a group of community members, we have the voice and power to talk to our representatives. Let us talk to them about livable wages, limited housing supports, and the growing cost of living. 

Good Samaritan Project

Partnership with local mom and pop restaurants to see how much would it cost to buy the rest of their food at the end of the day to distribute.

Corporate Consulting 

Partner with corporations and businesses and consult leadership on how to be a poverty informed business in a poverty informed community. 

Swap Meet

Tent Pop up Swap Meets to encourage trading and swapping.

&

Engage in San Antonio's Really Really Free Market. 

Traveler's Guide to a Poverty Informed Community 

All people deserve to indulge in the gifts of community. We want people to enjoy San Antonio for a low cost or no cost associated with events, shopping, eating, and site seeing. This guide would list Poverty Informed partners. (Inspiration: The Green Book)
